Financial Freedom

Take control of your finances to live the life you want

The two places people suffer most are in their relationships and their finances. I have a fair amount of experiences in one of them.

I became financially independent at age 42, after living on $25,000 a year for 20 years and saving/investing the rest (a longer version here). Since then, I’ve have the time, attention, and energy to do creative projects around helping people participate in grace. I write weekly about Money and Meaning on a Substack newsletter.

In order to shift your finances, it requires personal growth. It takes significant spiritual growth in how you see the world and how you see your finances.  Seen the right way, money is full of grace. How can you use money to do what you're committed to?

I also teach a two month online course called Financial Freedom. You can find testimonials on how changing your relationship with money changes how you see your life. It also involves a little math!

“Not everyone is ready to confront with their addiction to not-enoughness.” - Douglas Tsoi

How you see money is a window into how you see the world. Do you see it as broken or whole? It’s neither, except through the filter of your life experience. What if you were able to see money with clear eyes? By using money with what the Buddhists call “skillful means,” you can live more sufficiently, creatively, and graciously.

If you are looking for a firmer sense of how money fits in the rest of your life, Douglas offers Financial-Spiritual Coaching. In 6 months engagements, you will find and deepen your sense of how your money fits with meaning, purpose, and belonging. Any good spirituality helps you fall in love with your place in the world. And requires something of you too.

Where does your money fit into that? As a Quaker and Franciscan spiritual director, Douglas will help you find greater peace, integrity, and gratitude in your financial life.
